A Tribute to Our Beloved Pets

Dedicated to "Suzie" Also known as "Waggy Woo Bear" 1998-2009, and to "Toby" also known as Tobias our male house cat 1993-2010

"Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these." -Susan B. Anthony

~Recently, a friend who is approaching her eighties told me “My body is a lot slower, but I don’t feel older on the inside.” I’ve heard a lot of older people reflect that sentiment. Could it be that their feeling is a reflection of the eternal nature of the soul? Our souls do not grow old but continue in our eternal bodies. A fascinating thought. Eternity is already within us as a pledge of the world to come... -Joseph M Stowell

“A friend was telling me that he believes the Holy Spirit daily tries to reach each of us with his perfect counsel. “The Key”, my friend said, “is our obedience, as long as we obey that subtle prompting, it will come ever clearer. But if ever we begin to stop our ears, it will grow faint and then disappear.” -Diane Sawer

"A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passingthrough the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?" -Kahlil Gibran

Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation." -George Washington
